I borrowed the first season from a friend and watched the first 6 episodes. SO BORING. I didn’t love any of the characters, and it was so dull! The only thing I liked was the clothes, but that’s not enough inducement to watch it any more.

Time is precious. Why waste it watching commercials. Love my DVR for this very reason. I NEVER watch live TV. DVR everything and skip the commercials.

I don’t have the twitter or FB app on my phone either, I’m working at checking FB only two or three times a day versus constantly…and really, well, I’m a-okay with disconnecting a bit. To be honest, the social media crazy stresses me the hell out. And also annoys me. The other night I was out for drinks with five friends – a few I hadn’t seen in quite awhile. Do you know, all five of them had their phones out on the table, checking and texting them frequently during our 2 hour soiree? Call me old-fashioned, but to me it’s just plain rude. Facebook, Twitter, the interwebs? They can wait. You’re here to SEE these friends.

I’ve never watched Mad Men, don’t do (or really get) Instagram, haven’t watched TV in ages so haven’t seen commercials (not even Super Bowl ones, we were battling the evil snot-cough-vomit over my way) … but hot pink nails, yes. Books, yes. Book club – wish I were there to join in! ;)

I know that type of behavior is/was prevalent in some circles, eras, and whatever, I know the show is historically accurate, but–and this is the key–it is not produced for historical accuracy and illumination. That isn’t the point of the show. The point of Mad Men is the drama and the character arcs, not in showing us 21st century people how it *really was* back then. It’s not a historical drama, or even historical fiction, and that’s where I lose interest.
