Filed under: There and Back Again

Niagara Falls is one of the more touristy places in North America. There are reasons for that, about a million gallons of reasons. It is awe-inspiring, breath-taking and absolutely gorgeous. Leah and I didn’t have time to go on the boat ride under the falls because I had a plane to catch in Buffalo, NY, but an hour or two was plenty of time to enjoy and be amazed by the falls.

The day was absolutely beautiful, perfect for Falls viewing. Leah and I walked for miles along the river and through the town, taking in the sun and the $2 dollar hot dogs and the gorgeous scenery. This was a perfect afternoon.

Leah is a married lady now, but I will always remember the fantastic weekend we spent traipsing around Toronto and Niagara Falls.

Seeing this was on my list of New Year’s goals . . .but I didn’t make it there this year. Next year, definitely a must.
Comment by Melanie 2010 December 3 @ 7:44 amMy Niagara experience was both amazing & traumatic….seeing your photos brings that feeling back! I didn’t expect the touristy side to the falls (in my head it was remote and pristine, like a national park might be), but it was still awe-inspiring!
Comment by Amy So 2010 December 3 @ 8:41 amSo lovely! I haven’t been there in years, and Torsten has never been. Of course it’s the kind of place that impresses kids too, so maybe we should wait a few years and then go with Piglet.
Comment by Jess 2010 December 3 @ 10:05 amI have never been to Niagara Falls…but it looks so beautiful from your photos.
Comment by Kelli 2010 December 3 @ 10:12 amD’oh! I wasn’t finished commenting.
Anyway, what I wanted to say in conclusion was “Must get there!”
Comment by Kelli 2010 December 3 @ 10:13 amEditorial Note: Just because I am married now does NOT mean that I can no longer travel to fun places and hang with the Heid. Just saying.
Let’s start planning another vacation!
Comment by Leah 2010 December 3 @ 1:08 pmLove all these shots! Would you believe with as much as I’ve traveled–44 states, somewhere around 80 countries–I’ve never been to Niagara! For shame! We’re going to be in Montreal next summer, though, so I might try to change that then…
Comment by Camels & Chocolate 2010 December 3 @ 3:32 pmI can’t believe you didn’t do the boat ride! I guess this means you gotta go back. The boat truly puts a different perspective on the falls.

Comment by katelin 2010 December 8 @ 7:20 pmlooks absolutely fantastic! as i really hate hoards of people spoiling views and experiences like this i’d love to go there off-season, if there even is such a thing… and hey, i never knew the falls were that closely situated to the city and skyscrapers!
