If your blog reading habits are anything like mine, you are probably eating your cornflakes right now, or killing a little time at work checking up on your online life, or perhaps you are in transit, scrolling through your feed reader on your fancy little phone and listening to your favorite new band on your fancy little ipod. (Note, I don’t commute nor do I own an ipod…so if that description fit you best, I hate to tell you this but we are nothing alike.) At any rate, while you are doing that, I am on an Adventure! Bags are packed, friend recruited, snacks made, maps found, directions printed…and so it begins.
Now, unlike the Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) novels, there will be no monsters–I hope; no sharks–gaah! I really hope; no rabid dogs or alien monsters or haunted houses or sunken/buried/otherwise hidden cities with handsome princes or maidens waiting for rescue; there will be no wizards or warlocks or witches or anything creepy like that. So I suppose, by CYOA standards, I am not having an “Adventure”…more like an evening stroll through suburbia where nothing exciting would happen.*
Perhaps this whole “Going on an Adventure” thing is really just me trying to make my small life seem cooler on the Internet. “Look at me! I’m going on an Adventure! I’m going to the mall! To pick out T-shirts! Look how Cutting Edge I am!!”
No. On second (and final) thought, this is a bonafide Adventure! There are maps! And snacks! And company! Pssssh, I don’t need no CYOA serial killers or warring kingdoms to make my weekend exciting!
*I feel it is important to note that my Not-Up-To-Par-With-CYOA Adventure is not an evening stroll around suburbia, nor is it a T-shirt quest at a local mall…lest you actually think that sort of thing would really be shaking it up for me, I just wanted to clarify. No. Suburbia. No. Mall.

Remember to take a trusty shield and dagger. Because while you’re not expecting it to be that kind of adventure, you never know what your Not-CYOA will bring.
And FYI, I was eating my ginger bread cookies for breakfast while reading this.
Comment by Inna 2009 August 28 @ 5:40 amOf course not, CYOA is heading to the nearest Apple store to buy yourself an iPod so you can be cool like all the public-transit commuting kids! hahaha. Have a great trip!
Comment by SoMi's Nilsa 2009 August 28 @ 6:45 amhave fun & take photos!
And if you live in london your ipod/iphone is your only defence against going insane! Driving yourself is not really an option – you sit in traffic for days can’t find a parking space for love nor money & are charged £8 plus petrol a day to do so!
take care seeya hugya *G*
