I have some fantastic news, are you ready? Really? Ok, get ready. And even though today is the Ultimate Day of Pranks and Folly, my news has nothing to do with pranks, folly, or April Fool’s. (By the way, Happy April Fool’s Day! Please punctuate correctly.)
My news is that I am wearing pants I have not fit into since 2005. Two-thousand-five. That’s four years, people! Four years of accumulated chub is gone. I still have a couple more pounds I’d like to lose, but they are more vanity pounds than anything and I’m not really worrying about them. I’d rather have chocolate. And the last two weeks I have been allowing myself chocolate….and it is bliss!
My ABC’s of Dieting actually worked for me! The no carbs, no sugar, no fruit, no fun diet gave me results! And it’s a damn good thing, too, because had I gone weeks and weeks without a bagel and schmear, or 3 pounds of pineapple, or a heaping spoonful or 7 of brown sugar–what, you know you’ve tried it, and liked it–without some kind of results I would have drowned myself in chocolate sauce.
I still have a lot of toning up to do, not being able to run due to my stress fracture has turned some of those once-moderately-firm bits into something a bit, erm, wobbly. I need to tune up my bike, buy a new helmet, and get my act in gear. And as soon as it stops snowing I can actually start biking outside (I don’t do well with gym exercise equipment…I feel like I’m stuck in a smelly room with scary-looking people and not going anywhere. I’d much rather brave the elements.
I am very much looking forward to summer food with all it’s vegetabley freshness. I am looking forward to being able to exercise outside (i.e. exercise at all, see paragraph above). I am looking forward to my new-again wardrobe that has been hanging in my closet for years, unworn and begging me to get back in shape. I am loving that four years ago I was working for Banana Republic and have piles of staples that I never threw away and will re-work with scarves in bright, springy/summery colors and fabulous heels.
What are you looking forward to?

WOOT! And it’s no good pretending I’m not totally jealous of your BR wardrobe.
Comment by Janssen 2009 April 1 @ 5:27 amWhat a great accomplishment. Very inspirational for the girl who would like to lose 20 pounds! I’m looking forward to no longer being sick so I can actually workout at the gym and outside!

Comment by grungedandy 2009 April 1 @ 6:01 amSo darn exciting to get in those old pants. My old pants are fat pants, so I only have one pair of them around to remind me of not so thin times. I don’t know how you stuck to the ABC’s it would have killed me!!!
Comment by eatsandtreats 2009 April 1 @ 6:03 amOh, my goodness, THANK YOU for calling out that abused apostrophe in “April Fool’s Day.” That is one of the top reasons that I hate this so-called holiday.
(So, do you mind if i draw your attention to the first sentence of your second to last paragraph? It should be “its”!)
Yay for your skinny pants!
Comment by RA 2009 April 1 @ 7:05 amWoo hoo! Go you Heidi! I wanna see a favorites fashion show after you’ve swam in your new-old wardrobe for a few days;)
Comment by Megs 2009 April 1 @ 7:11 amYay! Go you!
On the punctuation thing, I thought the apostrophe came after the S. No??
Comment by Jess 2009 April 1 @ 8:05 amWoohoo, that is awesome! You go, girl! Congratulations. What a good feeling to be able to fit into those clothes. I am a teensy bit jealous. And yes, I’ve popped several a-spoonful of brown sugar into my mouth during times of desparation.
I’m looking forward to losing more weight, myself. I’ve lost 10 pounds but really need to lose another 60. I’m on week 2 of walking on my treadmill for 30 minutes a day. I’m hoping to see results after 6 weeks of walking. We shall see…
Comment by Chiada 2009 April 1 @ 10:11 amNice work! I’ve got ten to get rid of, and I’m hitting the wagon HARD this month! GO YOU!!!
Comment by abbersnail 2009 April 1 @ 11:06 amCongrats! I have a drawer of pants I desperately want to fit back into again. My problem is my major sugar addiction. It’s really hard to curb. But I’m not giving up!
I guess it’s probably April Fools’ Day, since presumably we are talking about multiple fools. Or you could also leave off the apostrophe altogether and say that “April Fools” is a nominal adjective modifying “Day”, instead of calling it a possessive. This is one of those things where you can make an argument for any of the variations.
Comment by Sra 2009 April 1 @ 12:16 pmBig congratulations! That’s a huge accomplishment, and now you get to enjoy all sorts of benefits!
