My week according to MasterCard

Filed under: Lists, Nine to Five, Proof that I'm a Nerd

I know you’ve all been sick before and I know it sucks to hear people complain about it, and I know that my being sick isn’t terribly different, but I’ve done a lot of math here and…ok, don’t be scared, it’s not a LOT of math…but it’s there, so don’t click away yet, alright? Ok. Thanks.  You’re the best.

5 Boxes of Puffs with Lotion, $11.95
2 Boxes of DayQuill, $15.96
1 Box of NyQuill, $7.98
1 Bottle of Mucinex, $13.59
1 Box of Sudafed, $6.49
2 Bottles of Zicam, $13.98
1 Jar Vaseline to heal cracking nose, $1.99
1 Tube Natural Ice to sooth chapped lips, $1.57
1 New Concealer to hide burst blood vessels in my face, $4.49
1 Waterproof Mascara to mask drippy-watery eyes, $4.63
2 Gallons of Orange Juice–no pulp, $6.37
2 “Coldbuster’s” from Jamba Juice with an Immunity Boost, $12.94
1 Humidifier–thanks Handsome!–to help me breathe at night, $23.69
1 Box Clorox Wipes to sanitize work station, $2.37

My B.O.S.S. is a soulless, merciless man who refused to let me take a few days off work to deal with above issues because “It’s the busy season and you can’t afford not to be here”–hearing him start coughing and complaining of a sore throat…Priceless.

**It should be noted, all drugs were taken in strict accordance with instructions on box/bottle and were not ever combined. I did not have freaky-psychotic episodes in the middle of the night after NOT taking Sudafed and Mucinex together where I believed myself to be 5 different people, and was actually convinced that this was my new life. Five different women; Rose, Leslie, Becca, Theresa “my friends call me Tessa”, and Siobhan. Nope. That absolutely didn’t happen.

yep i get that when i’ve been ill, revenge is sweet, especailly when they have not been at all helpful or sympathetic!
hope your feeling better seeya hugya *G*

Comment by grungedandy

Best revenge ever! Isn’t it sort of against the law not to permit employees to use sick time?

I hope you’re feeling better! Hehe, have you seen United States of Tara?

Being sick is a big ball of crappy. Although Leslie is quite charming…

Awww. Poor you! Feel better!

If my boss refused to give me sick time off, I’d purposely get her sick. *Cough cough* on her files. Rub snotty nose on her pens. You know, general sabotage.

Comment by Sra

Haha! So priceless! Feel better soon

Comment by Jenkneebee

Oh noooo. If only you had coupons! Hope you feel better soon!

Comment by Jackie

This is certainly a new spin on illness. I like it. Sorry you had to suffer through it though.

Wow. Your house must look like a pharmacy. Did all of that stuff really work? I had a cold last week, but a little rest, lots of water, and a gulp of NyQuil for three nights before bed fixed it right up. Oh, and a garlic pill every morning with breakfast. That’s my secret actually, but I’ll let you in on it. Take a garlic supplement and a vitamin C supplement in the morning with breakfast, and your cold will go away faster and be less severe.

Hope you’re feeling better!

:) Isn’t it great when your boss/parents/teachers/whoever suddenly finds out what it’s like to have a bad cold and they have to start apologising?

Tessa sounds awesome

oh good gracious lady i hope you’re feeling better. and your boss is lame for not letting you take a sick day, oy.

I’m always horrified when I realize what I’ve spent on Being Sick Accoutrements. Like, do you know what I could have bought if it weren’t for this cold? LOTS OF CHEESE, THAT’S WHAT.

Feel better!

Comment by Moose

Wow, that is a LOT of drugs. Hope you feel better!

Comment by Larissa

Being sick is expensive! Hope you are getting better every second. :)

LOL! You crack me up. Sorry you’re sick, though. May you heal quickly. I’ve been sick, too, and I hear this particular cough takes 4-6 weeks to dissipate. Here’s hoping yours is different.

i think it worries me that there exists something called clorox wipes for sanitizing your work station. i think the US is really germ conscious in a way that i have forgotten (or perhaps it wasn’t really like that when i last lived there). there was also no such thing as “jamba” juice last i knew. i’m learning so much here!

did any of it help?

xox,
/j

Um, why didn’t you add those up for me? Now I have to do math and it is all your fault. Stupid being sick makes you not think clearly. Love you!
