I think Handsome is completely dreamy, but every so often a girl just needs some girl time. The lovely Isabel skipped out on a slow morning at the office and Jihan skipped down the street as well to meet me for breakfast. The thing about girl time is that you can dish about girl things for hours without judgment…and only scaring a few nearby patrons. Seriously? The lady sitting behind us thought we were completely insane, and I’m afraid we ruined her breakfast. Oopsie!
Here’s the thing, I haven’t had serious girl time in ages. Sure, I’ve met up with girlfriends for a quick catch-up and I’ve spent days wandering around with girlfriends trying to locate the perfect lunch place. But somehow our power-breakfast of dishing about boys and clothes and, well, you know, girl stuff. I don’t know if it was finally being able to release a steady stream of chatter about things you can’t discuss with your boyfriend or your boyfriend’s family, or seeing a couple of people that I know. And by “know” I mean stalk online. Laws, I love the Internets. A google-reader and a wireless connection and I know people. People in different states, time zones, countries. I know people who build robots out of antiques. I know people who are obsessed with vampires (there are LOTS of these). I know people who have exotic vacations and people who are more obsessed with books than I am. The people I know–they are awesome. And I will have breakfast with any of you, any city, anytime.

The photo is too cute. I’m glad you got your girl time fix.
Comment by Jess 2009 January 7 @ 7:20 amI say Chicago. This summer. For BlogHer. I’m serious! And maybe a few emails or IMs between now and then? =)
Comment by Nilsa 2009 January 7 @ 8:13 ami don’t get a lot of girl time too. i guess it doesn’t help that i really don’t have any girl friends here. i’m glad you had fun!
Comment by cady 2009 January 7 @ 8:26 amIf only you were closer I would stalk you down and make you have girl time with ME! I am in serious need of it as well… in fact I had one session over my Xmas holiday and it was weird. I blame that on the fact that my group of college friends seems to be drifting a tad. Anyway, glad you had a good girls night… I’m looking to have one of my own tonight.
Comment by Lindz 2009 January 7 @ 8:30 amMy favorite girl time is actually with my best friend who is a guy. But it’s for the same reasons, we get to dish about stuff I don’t normally talk about with other people. And we like to philosophize and gripe too. All good things.
I can’t say I really feel close to anyone I’ve met while blogging, but I think that’s my fear of really connecting with anyone lest I be rejected. And then there’s the fact that I’ve connected with people online before only to find that we have nothing to talk about in person. But, hey, I met Ian and aforementioned best guy friend online, so it’s not all bad, right?
Comment by Sra 2009 January 7 @ 10:26 amCome to DC! We have lots of pretty monuments, which are kind of like sculptures. Oh, and we have museums which I’m sure have sculptures for your liking (and photo taking)!

Comment by Larissa 2009 January 7 @ 7:35 pmThis is going to sound horrible, but sometimes I think it would be harder to live without girl time than without my sweet, lovely husband. Which I’m sure is not totally true, but I totally rely on my girl time to keep me sane. Also, you girls are HOTT!
Comment by janet 2009 January 7 @ 9:33 pmI agree with Janet…not that we’re hott (tee-hee), but that I would miss girl time more then my husband….
Maybe…

Girl time like that is always awesome, and I need some myself… Wish I could just pop by for breakfast – someday!!!
