Half-Yearly Clean Sweep

I love Spring Cleaning time, I love to rearrange my furniture, rotate my closet and get rid of all the dust bunnies under my bed.  Somehow, this kind of activity makes me feel like everything is right with the world.

It is officially Fall, snow has fallen in thick blankets on the mountains and there is a definite crisp in the air.  I am actually considering closing my bedroom window–which has been open since February.  It’s time to up the ante a bit and break out my Fall Cleaning Skillz.

First order of business, rearrange the furniture, and revamp by bedroom.  It’s time to change the lime-green polka dots to something deep and red and fabulous.

Secondly, I need to get started on my Mission: Put Together crusade. I have taken photos of several M:PT outfits, but I need to upload them to Flickr and figure out what I’m going to wear this week.

Thirdly, my apartment is in desperate need of a really good cleaning.  I hope that by the week’s end it will smell like orange hardwood floor cleaner and cinnamon.

With the cold I am craving all sorts of cold-weather food.  Like soup, and slow-cooker goodness, and homemade bread–even though I’ve never actually attempted homemade bread.  It’s time to get back to the kitchen.

And lastly, I need to get my lazy self out and running again.  I can no longer use the “it’s too late” excuse, I get off work at 3:00.  I can no longer use the “it’s too hot” excuse, there is snow on the mountains.  I can no longer use the “my body still hurts”, because THANKFULLY I have a clean bill of health from both my physical therapist and my chiropractor.  Six months, people.  It took me six months and about a hundred doctor’s appointments to finally get back to feeling good after my car accident.  Gaaaah!

Bread is rather easy to make and my family LOVES homemade bread. That gives me some GREAT ideas for dinner! I love how “homey and warm” it makes the house feel!

As for the cleaning, I am with you on that. This weekend I spent all my time at home cleaning. I rearranged where our kitchen table sits and other things. Over the last few weeks, the DI has received about 20 large bags stuffed full of miscellaneous crap from my house…and I have 2 more to take today! When I went to bed last night, I FINALLY felt like my house was coming together and the dust bunnies were pretty much gone.

There will always be more (with children the job never ends) and I still haven’t been through all the toys, but before the end of the week, the DI will have a lot of Christmas toys to put out as well!

I could still find about a hundred excuses not to run. I chose “I can’t breathe” as my Sunday excuse.

Glad to hear your body is back to its old self! Tell me how the running goes. I have a foot ailment that I can’t spell (plantar something or other) which is keeping me off the trails, and it’s making me crazy. So I’d like to live vicariously through you, if that’s okay. :)

I was thinking about you and your injuries the other day. It’s crazy, because I had an internal organ burst open, massive internal bleeding, surgery so I wouldn’t DIE, and a little over a week later I’m good as new, minus that itty bitty organ and a little tired while I build my blood supply back up.

But then you get banged around in a car, no “major” injuries (ha, yeah right, huh?), and it takes your poor, beat up body FOREVER to heal. Aren’t our bodies crazy? I mean, yay for being able to heal at all, but really, what you went through just isn’t/wasn’t fair.

At least those six months gave you an opportunity to appreciate good health! It’s the bad times that make the good times so good. I’m glad you feel better.

So glad to hear that you’re back to good physical condition.

I’ve already started in on the fall cooking. I still have pumpkin recipes from last year to try (I got pumpkined out before I had tried all my new recipes).

I love fall; I just wish it wasn’t followed by winter.

YAY for being healthy again! WOOT!

And… as for the rest… Me, too. Oh, but me too! It finally feels like fall, so I gotta get on all that cleaning, cooking, and fall-clothes-wearing :)

Ah, fall, winds of change, etc. Good for you for putting that feeling to good, productive use.

Yes… I no longer have excuses not to exercise, too. Daylight Saving means suddenly it’s still light when I get home; spring is the best climate in the year for exercise; and still it’s not tempting. However, I’ve just bought a new bicycle, and it’s REALLY fun! Hopefully the fun lasts because this is one form of exercise I actually want to do.

Yeahhhhh! I’m glad you’re feeling better! I think it was the trip to Hawaii that made the difference with your health. The fresh air, hiking, and exposure to all those minerals!!! Yeah right! Anyway, that’s my theory!
