Does this make it official?

I tend to be a bit forgetful at times, skipping over seemingly important milestones without even realizing that someday I may think it is important. It has happened again. Well, twice, really.  I just now realized that my Blogiversary was a monthago.  And I didn’t post a thing.  Sorry blog.  Belated Best Wishes!  (Don’t be mad, ok?)  And then this complete obliviousness to all things Bloggy McBloggerson happened again last week. I published my 500th post on this blog and it didn’t even register on my radar. I was much too busy discussing the finer points of what falls under the Business Casual wardrobe umbrella.  (Um, apparently?  Everything.)

Because I just don’t feel like I can stomach some kind of romanticized ode to the blogosphere, I’m going to list bullet points.

  • I have had three different blog addresses, movingfrom having my full name and then my nickname at blogspot, to my own domain and the new-to-me WordPress format.
  • I have met six bloggers.  For whatever reason I find this significant.
  • Shout out to Isabel and Jihan in Seattle, Lou in Chicago, and Laurel and Z in New York City, and to Britt, who is actually a long-lost cousin that I found via blogger…true story, good times.
  • It should be noted, every time I read about a bloggy meet-up in the Real World I wish I was there, and am simultaneously terrified of making a complete fool of myself in “real life.”
  • I have learned HTML basics, and am now wading through CSS with varying levels of success ranging from completely pathetic to pathetically mediocre.
  • I have begun cooking.  Really cooking.  As in keeping-my-new-year-resolution-to-cook-at-least-one-time-per-week cooking.  This is significant.  I have made this resolution every year for almost a decade, and this is the first year I have kept it past February.
  • I blame blogging.  I was constantly reading about people’s foray into domesticity and I couldn’t help but think “wow.  That doesn’t look so hard.”
  • Really, you people make cooking look easy.  Handsome thanks you.  And I thank RA and Nic, founders of Whip It Up
  • Since I started blogging, I have been through two break-ups, three boyfriends, and countless blind dates.  And you, dear Internet, have been there with me all the way. “Awwww”ing in the appropriate places, and laughing in the appropriate places, and threatening to beat-up the mean boys when appropriate/inappropriate.  Thank you.  Muah.
  • I have learned how to hyperlink.  Clearly.  Ugh.
  • I have not, however, learned when to shut up.  I have a sneaking suspicion it was somewhere after Whip It Up…

Happy 500 to me!  Happy 500 to you!  500 for everyone!

Happy 500th post! I had my 400th not that long ago and then felt really old for some reason.

Hooray! I have really loved your cooking adventures, not to mention your fabulous sewing skills. I am seriously still in awe of that dress you made.

I’m glad you’re blogging…here’s to the next 500 posts. Hopefully we can be one of those bloggy meet-up stories someday, too :)

Yay, 500! Also, I totally missed my own blogiversary, too. I’m still not quite at 500 posts, though.

I know you really wanted to *say* that meeting me was the highlight… you just can’t *say* that because it will make the others jealous. Obvi ;)
