I lost half a toenail last spring around this time after hiking in bad shoes. It’s no fun! I ended up wearing a bandaid on my toe during most of open-toe shoe season.

First and foremost – thank you for not posting toe deformity pics. ICK! Next – that’s AWESOME! If you are losing toenails that makes you so totally hard core and so totally COOL. Lastly – you are gonna rock the race sista. Rock it real good! We shall run one together in August – you and I. Provo half – all down hill – you the veteran and me the scared “what the hell was I thinking” beginner. Good times.

Ha naked toast. I once broke my little toe & had to wear sandals in winter too. Sandals in winter would be an awesome band name. Good luck on the half marathon, you can do it!

You will finish the race!!! You go & I feel some of your pain. Greg is making me run a race in June and so I’ve been trying to train but I hit my little toe on the barstool and I am losing the nail-I also feel naked without polish! Anyway, I couldn’t help but laugh and smile about the predicament you are in. Gotta love it BABY!!

Toenail/fingernail issues weird me out more than even the grossest surgery. What on earth happened to make you have to cut most of it off?

Good luck! My husband has run two races in a many weekends. No half marathons though. He tells me that’s next year. If he loses any toenails, he’s NOT sleeping in the same bed as me!

Hooray for you! Go Heidi! (I hope this is giving you the motivation you need) I am in utter admiration that you would even consider doing a half-marathon. It's the sort of thing I would laugh hysterically at the thought of. And with a missing toe-nail! That's the sort of thing I would accept gratefully as a sign from God that obviously I have not been called to run in races. I have absolutely no commitment.

I have no running advice, but lots of sympathy for the lost toenail. I dropped a brick on my foot once; the nail fell off in early June. I contemplated painting the skin where the nail should be, just to make it look more normal. Thank God they grow back!
