What is more fantastic than a chocolate lounge? Oh that’s right; nothing. Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge is like the fancy, girlified version of Godiva or See’s, or Cumming’s. They have little tables and pink and brown striped club chairs so you and your girlfriends can nibble on truffles and key lime chocolates and talk about boys and shopping and books and Brad Pitt. I have heard about Ethel’s, and when I walked past one on Michigan Avenue I did a prompt about-face and went inside to check it out. Fantastic! They have so many different types, and all are in tiny bite-sized pieces, so you don’t feel bad about eating 4 or 5. Brilliant! I noticed that Las Vegas has several locations – and next time I visit Sin City I fully intend to make a little stop for some milk-chocolate truffles. Yum!

They actually have their (one of their?) chocolate factory in Las Vegas, where you can see these huge vats of chocolate being mixed and they give free samples at the end. Ohh, I miss Ethel M’s.
Comment by Janssen 2007 July 23 @ 9:50 amFunny story. My sister and her boyfriend came into town about a year and a half ago to visit (this was when I was still together with the ex I lived with). Sarah’s boyfriend is crazy… good crazy… but seriously… he’s crazy. He talked incessantly about going to Ethel’s, which I had never heard of, the entire time he was here. He HAD to go to the Ethel’s for reasons I still do not fully comprehend.
Finally, after Sarah and I ran a 5-mile race on the last day of their trip (yes, that was part of the trip), we were downtown and within walking distance to the very Chocolate Lounge you visited. As we approached, Sarah’s boyfriend attempted to get my boyfriend-at-the-time to hum the tune to Rocky as he ran, pumping his fists in the air, through the doors toward the aforementioned Chocolate Lounge. A “victory lap” if you will…
My boyfriend-at-the-time refused. Just more proof that my ex was no fun whatsoever.
