A few days ago Isabel detailed the contents of her purse and it somehow made me feel like we were better friends; real friends aren’t embarassed to tell you exactly what they have in their purse. So, dear blog-friends, here is my purse-confession:

Table ‘o Contents:
- (A) A few bills that I need to pay.
- (B) My checkbook, which is always balanced. Always. I even have a excel spreadsheet to keep everything in line. Yes, I’m a nerd.
- (C) My wallet, stuffed full of plastic – I don’t actually carry cash. Ever.
- (D) A couple of CD’s I picked up at a concert last weekend, haven’t listened to them yet.
- (E) Brochures from touristy places JenKneeBee and I visited last week in Colorado Springs
- (F) My camera case (camera was obviously being used at time of photo.)
- (G) A Mother’s Day card I ended up not using, a belated Birthday card from my brother and a Thank You card from a group of teenagers.
- (H) Sunglasses, one of three that I have scattered around my bags and car.
- (I) Shiny case for my business cards.
- (J) “Save Darfur” wrist bands, I wear one and keep two with me in case someone is curious.
- (K) Susan Komen notepad and about a million pens… a girl’s gotta be prepared!
- (L) Reading material: Vogue, J. Crew catalog, and a novel.
- (M) Girl-scout stuff; advil/hay fever meds, chapstick, batteries, and a keychain with a flash-light on it, just in case.
- (N) Yes, I have 2 RAZR phones; one is for me (silver) and one is from work (graphite).
- (O) Quarters for laundry… I really really wish I didn’t have to do the coin-drop thing anymore!
- (P) Snacks; granola bar and handful of tootsie-rolls.
- (Q) Elastic to tame my crazy hair mid-afternoon… seems like no matter what I do, my locks always end up in a pony-tail by 2:00.
- (R) Gum, for that minty-fresh feeling.
You’ll notice I don’t have any keys; I keep them in a pretty bowl by my front door or I’ll spend half my time searching for them. You may also notice that I don’t really keep any lip gloss, lip stick, lip balm, lip liner, etc. I have a single tube of chapstick that I love and that’s all I use. Sometimes when I have to dress up I’ll use a little bit of color; but usually it’s just me and my chapstick. What can I say? I live in the desert and it’s difficult to mess with all the goops and goos and salves… I’d rather swipe my chapstick (every 40 minutes it seems!) and be good to go.

That is pretty cool – you’re right, I feel like I know you better
If I chronicled my purse, it would just be a bunch of lip glosses standing in line like so many soldiers, ready to battle my fear of chapped lips. Lip balm would make my list of “three things you’d want if marooned on a desert island.” I think my purse has three colors and a clear right now.
Comment by Trish Ryan 2007 May 22 @ 9:23 amOh I wonder what it is with the content of handbags, it’s a bit like sneeking a peek into someone’s bathroom cabinet – but without a guilty conscience…:)
Thanks for sharing!
Comment by Pia K 2007 May 22 @ 12:55 pmyou are so organized! I am too messy to put my purse on the internet. You’d see a lot of gum wrappers. And pens.
PS I also have a ponytail addiction!
Comment by janet 2007 May 22 @ 4:07 pmYou certainly can fit quite a bit in there. I’m impressed!
Comment by Angela 2007 May 22 @ 7:11 pmWhat a good idea! I am so doing this too. It is fun to get to know someone through their purse content…
Comment by Alice 2007 May 23 @ 7:32 amhmmm…..
All I carry with me:
1 cell phone,
1 set of keys,
1 wallet.
Contents of wallet: ID, plastic, a little bit of cash,
and business cards.
End of story. A guy’s life is simple.
Comment by Brian Bosworth 2007 May 23 @ 11:23 amWhat a pretty purse. I love that you have two phones. It makes me feel better about my two phones.
(Have you seen the movie “The Power of One”? I assume it was based on the book. When you are done, return and report, okay?)
Comment by Isabel 2007 May 23 @ 11:55 amCool. My bag contents are way way simple. I don’t do big bags usually – but I’ve become very fond of my bigger blue ones – mostly because it carries my novel
Comment by Andrea Jolene 2007 May 23 @ 8:05 pmHeidi, I love you very much, but you have a complicated purse. Mine is more boyish then yours, except that the actual purse is pink. Contents: keys, pink phone, tiny pink wallet, (contents of wallet- plastic and ID) chapstick. (When you have to change purses every day, sometimes twice a day, it is much more convenient to have fewer than 5 items inside.)
Comment by Miss Erika 2007 May 23 @ 9:49 pmsimplicity. i just make the guy carry my keys, phone, and whatever else i don’t need adding to the pockets.
