When I was growing up, every Saturday night we had hamburgers for dinner. It was sort of tradition, and sort of because my mom loves them. We didn’t go out for greasy, McDonald’s, or even to a “fancy” place like the Training Table. No, we made them on the BBQ in our backyard and usually had baked beans, chips and chocolate milk. To this day, I still love hamburgers with chocolate milk, and I have been looking for a restaurant that serves burgers that taste like the ones I grew up with.
Enter Sliders Diner in San Francisco.
Located in the Sunset near Golden Gate Park, this tiny hole-in-the-wall, student and local populated joint only seats about 12 people – but the food is soooo worth it! I used to ask Adam to take me to In-and-Out burgers every time I came to San Francisco, until I discovered Sliders. Now, unfortunately, In-and-Out takes a side seat; it is still tasty – but I have simply found something better. It’s not you, it’s me. Sliders has amazing burgers that taste exactly like the ones we cooked at home, served with big, fat french-fries and an open bar of burger-fixin’s. How can you go wrong? My favorite burger: no cheese, lots of pickles, ketchup AND mustard, with extra tomatoes. Yuuuummmmm! And, because I was raised in Utah, I like fry-sauce. What is “fry-sauce”? Well, it is mayo mixed with ketchup…and it’s better if you add a little BBQ sauce. I know, it sounds crazy – but it’s incredibly delicious! Is it wrong to have burgers two days in a row? Hmm, I don’t think so!
