So, I just ran into Cher. Honestly! Well, either it was Cher or her Vegas look-a-like, it could have been either really. I’m still trying to figure out what Cher would be doing at the LV Convention Center, at a camera & photography tradeshow. Yeah, it’s kind of a stretch for me too. You remember about a month ago I went to Anaheim to the Craft & Hobby World Fair? Well, I am here at another convention – only this one is MUCH more my style – as far as conventions go. I actually can talk to most of the vendors here, they are interested in what I have to say, and I have been getting excellent response. That part has been so much easier than the last convention I went to.
However, because this is Vegas, and because this tradeshow is dominated my men in power suits… there are some very interesting marketing gimics. The Samsung booth has hired a woman who wears 4″ heels and tiger body paint to man their booth. That’s all; heels & body paint…. uh, what? The Fuji Film booth has three gorgeous women in skimpy outfits posing with/hanging all over anyone who will have their picture taken…how do you explain THAT to your wife/girlfriend/boss? “It was, um, a camera convention…” There are dozens of digital photography booths that had stunning, anorexic skankarilla’s in smaller and smaller outfits to “demonstrate” their digital photography product. Helllooooo!! So, dodging the hooker-booths and covering my face while they strut past has occupied all other moments when I’m not presenting my magazine, collecting business cards & free samples, and basically kicking butt.
