On Saturday, after the Pork Store Cafe breakfast bonanza, Adam & I headed downtown to see the Picasso Exhibit at the San Francisco MOMA. Ok, first of all – I love Picasso, I love the Impressionists, and I am quite fond of the later Cubists. But Modern Art – most of the time, kind of alludes me. The Picasso exhibit had contemporary American modern/cubist art alongside Picasso masterpieces, and was the most interesting part of the museum. The rest of the exhibits were really considerably less interesting for me. I just don’t see anything terribly exciting about a 20 foot stack of air humidfiers, or a whole wall painted in slate blue, flanked by another in a slightly darker shade of slate blue. There was one interesting bit of the museum, a animated version of the Tommy Lee/Pamela Anderson video was playing on two flat screen TVs anchored to the wall. As we walked past a woman in her 40′s sat down with her two sons, ages 5-6 and watched a good 20 minutes of this video. “What the??” It was incredible! Not only were they completely absorbed in the “kiddie animated movie”, but their mother had NO CLUE what she was seeing! It was hilarious and sad, all at the same time. Wow. W-O-W.
