Coit Tower is the highest point in San Francisco, on top of Telegraph Hill. It is a memorial to the firefighters of the City, many of whom died in the great fire of 1906. From the top of this tower, you can see views of the entire city in the 360-degree windows. From one window is Alcatraz and the Bay, from another is the Presidio & Golden Gate Bridge and another is the skyscrapers of the financial district, and another holds the Bay Bridge to Oakland and Treasure Island. Adam & I hadn’t really planned on visiting Coit Tower, although by the time we’d hiked halfway up Telegraph Hill I decided that for my efforts I at least wanted to see the amazing view. I was not disappointed. This weekend was perhaps the sunniest San Francisco has seen in months, and the views all around were incredible. It’s hard to say which is my favorite, but I loved the view of downtown and the TransAmerica Building. What can I say, I’m an architecture nerd!

Oh look, they were nice enough to padlock those windows for you, you know, to keep you from getting to close…. or feeding the bears.
