Japanese Tea Gardens

Today, Adam & I went to the Japanese Tea Gardens in Golden Gate Park. Of course, I am obsessed with just about anything Asian, and he puts up with me & my odd habits because, well, he’s wonderful. The garden has a small tea house in the center, surrounded by winding paths, small streams, pagoda-style buildings and archways and even an enormous Buddah statue. As we wandered past raked rock gardens, bonsai trees and small statues I couldn’t help but notice how the entire garden was so serene.

One of my favorite attractions was a half-circle bridge. Seriously, walking across a stream has never included so much aerobic activity – I almost felt like I needed mountain-climbing gear! It was a hike to get over this thing. Ok, it really wasn’t that bad – kind of like climbing a ladder. But who climbs a ladder to get over a 2-foot-wide stream? But, it does make for some amazing photos!

Tea Garden=more lush than anything I saw in Japan.

I think we should all take a giant trip to Japan. I really want to go back and it would be way fun with lots of tomodachis (translation: friends).

Beautiful pics! It looks so peaceful and quiet…It makes me want to go back to Japan so badly too! Have any pics of you hiking over that bridge?

I’m again J, jealous! I was just there this past weekend and am going back there March 9th. Thinking about moving there, more on that later :)
