Father, I have "sinned"

It has been 3 weeks since my last confession. I was trying to elimintate caffeine from my diet – particularly Dr. Pepper – and I have failed! The other night I was so tempted by it I ordered Diet Dr. Pepper, I figured it wasn’t quite as bad as the “full power” version. It just tastes sooo good with Cafe Rio! And as a result I was kept awake – staring at the ceiling until all unearthly hours of the night. Then yesterday, while lunching with the girlies Meg, Hoots & the Wench, I figured I’d already had Diet Dr. Pepper – so moving on to regular Dr. Pepper wasn’t really that bad…. and again, as a result, I was awake until approximately 4:30 last night… and I suppose I deserve it. Sigh… so, I am confessing here on the wide world of bloggers so that perhaps SOMEONE will be able to stop me from drowning myself in Dr.P. Feel free to judge and ridicule me for my faults & confessions.

Aww, if I had known you were trying to kick the caffinated soda habit too we could have started a support group… like AA for caffeine. Growing up in Atlanta I’ve had a serious Coke(-a-cola) habit for a long time. It’s only been around a week and a half or twe weeks though since I quit… again.

Anyway, I have no ridicule for you. I would just be a big hypocrite if I did. Get bakc on the bandwaggon though. Make friends with Sprite and Root Beer, those two are usually enough to get me through my weak moments. ;-)

I’m totally right there with you. After every semester I quit drinking caffeine. It makes me sick and I get some awful headaches from it. I know it’s bad for me. But then by the end of every semester I’m drinking a few Diet Cokes a day. It’s so good. And it’s not like I can really do a very good job cramming if I’m not pumped full of caffeine. Maybe after I graduate and get a job I’ll quit…

Ok – Caffienated Beverage-aholics Anonymous meetings are now in session. This time will be better – I’ll go to meetings, take steps, have slogans, make t-shirts, whatever it takes! “Kick Kaffiene!” Hmmmm… that’s kinda catchy – I must be in advertising or something. ;o)

Be strong! You can give it up! I just gave up sugar and its hard at first, but I just eat as much fruit as I can and I’ll be happier in the long run. A few years ago I didn’t have sugar for an entire year and I didn’t miss it at all. Just try again and see how it goes.

Being a new comer to the soda world – I can attest to its evil ways as well. I never ever liked soda or drank it – then, I began the teaching program and ALL teachers have this thing for Diet Coke. What the? I hate that crap – but it was made so readily available at my “mansion o’ teachers” (there are 4 of us) I started with one once in awhile – to help keep me awake in French. Then that one lead to a few more just because – and then one day I realized I had had one can/fountain drink of the ghastly stuff everyday for a week!! What?? NOooooooo!! So it’s gone now. I’ve gone back to one every once in awihle – and it’s only to 1. Offer a little wakedness when I need it and 2. So I won’t be completely ostrasized from the education world. And that is my story…

Steph: can’t IMAGINE going one whole year without sugar…You are (again) my hero. I don’t know if I’ve ever gone a week without sugar! I am a much happier person with a little chocolate. ;o)

A good substitute for the Dr. Pepper with Mexican food is Fresca…. .and, as my 9 year old nephew informed me “What the!…. There’s no sugar in this?” See, the best of two worlds!
