San Francisco: Golden Gate Bridge

I have always been fascinated with the Golden Gate Bridge . I love the history, the architecture and the mystery that comes with it. (I realize people who live in San Francisco are probably so used to it that the bridge seems like a traffic headache and that’s about it…but I think it’s magical; feel free to tease me about it). On the City side, the best views of the bridge are from Baker Beach – which (unbeknownst to me) is a beach that has embraced public nudity…someone should WARN me about things like that! No one wants to see naked men lounging around on the beach, working on their tan!! Shudder…
Driving across the bridge is something I have always wanted to do – and I was not disappointed. The Golden Gate Bridge is constantly being repainted; the painting crews literally finish at one end and immediately start on the other, it’s a year-round painting process. Yeah, I’m a nerd…and I’m fascinated by this piece of architecture.
